Pierre Bonnard, a leading figure of the 19th century Les Nabis faction, said.
Painting is a series of small lies piled on top of each other to create a big truth.
For me, painting, sculpture, installation, and other means of expression are an attempt to connect my everyday life with the realm that cannot be visualized.
Since I was a child, I have had doubts and fears that everything that happens in this phenomenal world may be a trick or a fiction. These doubts and fears are the starting point of my imagination.
My themes of "proliferation and transformation," "joining of boundaries," and "search for connection points" are nothing but the points of contact that connect me to this question-filled world.
These are things that exist around me on a daily basis, like a kind of "fluctuation" that exists in the small world that spreads out beneath my feet, in the internal states of my thoughts and mind, and in the society created by human beings.
In other words, by choosing slime molds, minerals, drifting objects, natural phenomena, festivals, and rituals as motifs, I am attempting to see the invisible, and through them, to access the "continuous and elusive connections" of this world.
All beings in this world are in a constant state of flux, both in form and essence, and cannot retain their identity, even for a moment. I am trying to create my truth by piling up lies to capture this fluid world that flees when I try to grasp it.
